As the title says I am just wondering how you guys started the forum, did a few of you get together and decide to start it up as something to do? Are some of you working in the gaming industry? Or was it just out of your love of gaming?

well, it's a long story, but we decided to launch the site back in 2001, when we first heard about the X-Box - as it was then codenamed. Ourselves along with MSXBOX, were the first sites to launch, and then a whole bunch of other "me too" sites appeared - about a year later.
MSXBOX bit the dust and was given to the creators of TeamXbox, who at that time were a small, but good looking site.
Plenty of other xbox sites have come and gone, XboxActive, Funxbox (lol), Xbox360, 123Xbox and others too numerous to remember or care about - most were crappy, grabbing news and images from other sites.
With the launch of 360, I'm sure there will be hundred of other new sites... all will die when the owners realise how much work it takes to maintain and pay for a site like ours.
anyways, I could wax poetic about the launch, but suffice to say, we learnt our lesson when the Wall St Journal and MSNBC did an article about us, and made us Public Enemy #1 with Microsoft - for a while!

HaHa do you really think any one will be still here from 2001!!!
I started hanging around early 2002 after you guys were linked from Halo.bungie.org.. for some reason. I lurked for ever and had a few accounts with about a dozen posts each. Then I flamed Clippit with my first post (with my old "Black Math" account) and finally started posting regulary.
To be honest though, I sort of miss the old design.

You fasten the triggers For the others to fire Then you set back and watch When the death count gets higher You hide in your mansion As young people's blood Flows out of their bodies And is buried in the mud
